Questions about leaving Excel
Will we have to retype everything?
No. Import a CSV or Excel file, map the columns and run a dry run first. A holder column issues those Assets when you commit, so the register starts with who has what.
Can we keep our asset tag format?
Yes. Tags follow your organization's own format and stay unique across it. A serial that collides raises a warning you confirm.
What happens to the history in our sheet?
The register starts from your import. From then on, every change of holder is recorded on the custody chain instead of being typed over.
Can we still open our data in Excel?
Yes. Every register view downloads as a CSV file, which opens in Excel.
